In 2010, the Lotte Department Store declared our mid-to-long term vision for CSR and defined our responsibilities and policies in the economic, environmental, ethical, and social spheres, so as to establish an unequivocal framework for value assessment. Furthermore, we founded the Sustainability Management Committee to outline our goals in each field, introduced a new progress evaluation index, and implemented an evaluation and feedback system, to ensure systemic Undertaking of our plans and establish a management structure that takes us to the next level.

In 2010, the Lotte Department Store created a Sustainability Management Committee, with our CEO serving as the Chairman.
The Sustainability Management Committee, consisting of 9 executives from each department, discusses future strategies and directions and
reaches consensus on core projects.

Selected as DJSI World Super Sector Leader
In September 2011, the Lotte Department Store has been incorporated into the DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes) World for 3 consecutive years, and has been selected as the ‘Super Sector Leader’ signifying No. 1 in global retail sector for 3 consecutive years.
The DJSI is the world’s most prestigious sustainability evaluation index managed cooperatively by the Dow Jones Index and Swiss sustainability management firm SAM. The DJSI assesses sustainability management standards of global firms and selects/publishes the world’s leader in sustainability management so as to serve as a useful reference point for social responsibility investment. Being selected by the DJSI demonstrates the global recognition of Lotte Department Store’s competitiveness and potential.
UN Global Compact
The Lotte Department Store was the first in the industry to become a member to the UN Global Compact in January 2007.The Global Compact is a voluntary framework for global corporations based on 10 principles in the four fields of human rights, labor standards, environment, and anti-corruption. Members need to abide by the 10 principles outlined by the Global Compact and submit an annual report on their progress. At present, more than 100 firms worldwide are members to this initiative.

Think Tomorrow
The Lotte Department Store sustainability report is published under the title <Think Tomorrow> which signifies our endeavor to create a sustainable society in the future. Under our goal of becoming a respected global sustainable company, the Lotte Department Store has been publishing an annual sustainability report since 2005, outlining our accomplishments and progress in sustainability management. Marking our eighth issue, the Lotte Department Store sustainability report will open new doors of communication to bring us closer to our partners and all interested parties.
